Fall Fashion Inspiration

Fall Fashion Inspiration

As September approaches and the weather cools, I begin to look forward to editing my wardrobe for fall. Fall is one of my favorite seasons (for fashion that is) due to the abundance of gorgeous boots, cozy sweaters, and simplistic layering.

My outfit options triple as I consider how I can wear a simple t-shirt with jeans in a variety of ways. A quick switch of shoes or a scarf completely changes the look and offers a new spin on an old classic.

Below are a few of my favorite looks for fall this year. I particularly love these because they can be easily built from just about any wardrobe. You won't need to break the bank (or spend anything at all!) to mimic each fashionable ensemble.

I love this look for a variety of reasons. It's simple to recreate. It can be dressed up or down. It's classic enough to work well on almost any body type. I'm also confident most women can find similar items in their current wardrobe. If you don't have black denim, swap for thick leggings. Either booties or knee-high boots work for this look.

ELEMENTS OF THE LOOK

Black pants
Loose-fit tank or tee
Slouchy cardigan
Knee-high boots or booties
Long pendant necklace

Throughout both of my pregnancies, I enjoyed wearing form-fitting base layers to accent my growing bump. T-shirt dresses were my best friend due to their excellent comfort and overall ease to wear. If you don't own a knit t-shirt dress, consider pairing a pencil skirt and tee together to get the same effect. You can also swap the utility jacket for a moto-jacket or oversized cardigan.

ELEMENTS OF THE LOOK

T-shirt dress (like the LulaRoe Julia!)
Utility jacket
Sneakers, booties, or flats

I've owned a few "business basics" for years but never seem to wear them as much as I should. Maybe it's because I'm not required to dress up for my job, or maybe it's just because I always feel overdressed in a button-up and slacks. But, after coming across this style inspo by Kailee Wright I'm super excited to give business casual another try. I love how she paired leopard mules with a matching belt. It's crisp and put-together, while still fun.

ELEMENTS OF THE LOOK

Button-up blouse
Dress pants
Printed belt
Mules or flats

So much of my style inspo comes from Brittany Kelley. I adore her timeless and effortless style. This look is a great one for every day. To get your look as simplistic and chic as Brittany's, be sure to find a cardigan and tee that have the same muted tone. This small detail really nails her look. I also love that this outfit can easily be worn with sneakers, booties or even mules.

ELEMENTS OF THE LOOK

T-shirt
Cardigan
Jeans or joggers
Sneakers

Hooray for scarf season! Adding a scarf to your look is a super simple way to punch it up. Plaid prints are always great for fall, though florals, leopard, and geo prints work nicely also! Another key element of this ensemble is the "something extra" top. Think ruffles, pleats, lace or fringe. If you don't own a top like this, consider a quick DIY project with an older t-shirt.

ELEMENTS OF THE LOOK

"Something extra" top
Printed scarf
Jeans or leggings
Boots
Large Tote

Any outfit that includes rain boots is a great one in my opinion. I live for wearing my plaid rain boots every fall. To nail this simple weekend look, all you really need is a vest and tall boots. J. Crew makes a great quality quilted vest. I found mine at the outlet (40% off!) which made it a much more reasonable investment piece.

ELEMENTS OF THE LOOK

Long sleeve tunic (LulaRoe Randy would work!)
Leggings or Jeans
Quilted vest
Rain boots
